The The project “Playing in the Snow is Good” intends, to make Winter sports more widely known and practised, namely among children (from six to nine years old) and their families and to continue – in a more elaborated and perfect way – the initial project (application 2007/2008), having in mind a more active participation of Portugal in international competitions and in the Olympic Games. The project it is designed to involve more and more children and therefore their parents through: “Recruitment” of parents as auxiliary “child-minders”; Contacts with the Ministério da Educação (Education Office), Direcção Regional de Educação do Centro (Regional Educational Department) and local councils in order to make snow sports an integrant part of the school activities; Fairs and exhibitions (marketing and publicity);Partnerships with local hotels and hostels (seeking to increase “family tourism”). This project had great exposure in TV and newspapers nationwide Portuguese. (RTP1, TVI, Jornal de Noticias).

Overall Focus

  • Attracting new practitioners of winter sports. Encouraging healthy habits and nature conservation in young people.
