Training Sessions Principles - Freestyle Skiing

Training Sessions

  • Training sessions generally occur at the same time frame as the Final for each competition.
  • If there are multiple training sessions, then there will be a rotation between the training groups.
  • There needs to be a break for course preparation between the two training sessions.

Training Groups

  • Training Groups can be set up based upon the event and the number of competitiors entered into the competition
  • Divsion of the training groups can done according to the following factors;
  • The numbers in each training groups should be as equally divided as possible.

Inspection

Inspections are required before every training sessions

  • An inspection of the course occurs before a training sessions.
  • there will time break after the inspection and before the training session starts
  • The duration of the inspection can be between 10 to 30 minutes depending upon the event.
  • Two training groups can inspect at the same time, then one group can train, then the other group can train.

There are coaches and athlete inspections of the course

Time Break between an Inspection and Training Sessions

  • The time break will vary between the different events
  • The time break vary depending upon the lenght of the course

Duration of Training Sessions

  • Duration of the training sessions are based upon the following factors:
    • Number of Competitiors in the training groups
    • The specific event (Moguls, Aerials, Ski Cross, HalfPipe)
    • Time available (training day verses competition day)
    • Ski Lift turnaround time (time it takes from finish area to the start)
  • the training session can be of a time duration of limited to a number of runs or jumps

Training Session by Event

Moguls Competition

  • 30 to 40 minutes or around 3 runs before the qualification
  • 20 to 30 minutes or around 2 runs before the final

Mogul Training

  • A daily Mogul Training session can be as long as 2 hours
  • Time breaks need to be set up to prepare the course


Ski Cross Competition

  • there will be a training session before the qualification of 30 to 45 minutes based upon the number of entries
  • it is optional to have a training session before the Final

Ski Cross Training

  • Training seesions are between 45 to 60 minutes in duration based upon the entries
  • the trianing session can be limited to a number of runs based upon the number of entries or the condition of the course


Aerial Competition

  • Training sessions are before the qualification 60 to to 75 minutes in duration

Aerial Training

  • Training sessions are between 120 to to 150 minutes in duration


HalfPipe Competition

  • Training seesions are between 45 to 60 minutes in duration based upon the entries
  • Training seesions can be divided between the genders

HalfPipe Training

  • Training sessions are between 120 to to 150 minutes in duration
