[edit] The Town of Oberndorf

Oberndorf is a municipality in the Kitzbühel district, Tyrol, Austria. It is located in the Leukental valley, on the Kitzbühler Ache, halfway between St. Johann in Tirol and Kitzbühel, at an altitude of 687 m above sea level. Area is 17,7 km², with a population of approx. 2000. The municipality consists of a main village and several hamlets, reaching up to the Kitzbühler Horn mountain. Its neighboring municipalities are Going am Wilden Kaiser, Kitzbühel, Reith bei Kitzbühel, and St. Johann in Tirol. Until the 18th century copper was mined at the Rerobichl. Today, economy is focused on tourism, and a quarry. Oberndorf has a train stop at the Salzburg-Tiroler-Bahn.

St. Johann in Tirol is a market town in Tyrol, Austria, in the Kitzbühel district. St. Johann lies in a valley basin between the mountain range of the “Wilder Kaiser” and the “Kitzbüheler Horn” in the centre of the district of Kitzbühel. The Kitzbüheler Ache (small river), the Fieberbrunner Ache and the Reither Ache unite in St. Johann and run into Bavaria as the Tiroler Ache. The center of town is approximately 660 metres above sea level, the Local Authority area comprises a surface area of 59,150 square metres.

The Ski Area St Johann in Tirol/Oberndorf in Austria (in the Tirol region) is a large resort with 17 lifts (3 cable cars, 4 chair lifts, 10 drag lifts) that offers skiers 60 kilometers of impeccable runs. St Johann in Tirol/Oberndorf has 21 pistes, modern snow making equipments cover a total of 45 km of pistes in snow in only 60 hours. The Ski Area is best suited for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. There are 275 kilometers (172 miles) of cross country ski trails at the whole holiday region “Kitzbüheler Alps” with its four villages St Johann in Tirol, Oberndorf, Kirchdorf, Erpfendorf. The closest airport is at Salzburg but the transfer time is 1.5 hours. The nearest train station to St Johann in Tirol is at St Johann in Tyrol. There is accommodation located close to the pistes but we would welcome additional information about any hotels or chalets in St Johann in Tirol.
